Meet Bare:

Hello! Welcome! Keila here, I am the owner and operator

of Bare Cloth. I am so excited that you are here and I

can't wait to share my passions and work with you.

I started Bare Cloth in 2016, a few years after leaving the

fashion industry and a few years after bringing a

Domestic Hattersley loom from London, England to

Northern Minnesota, the first of its kind on the continent!

I have always loved making, designing, and clothing

construction but have struggled

with how the clothing industry has hidden the true

costs and impacts of clothing. I realized that I could be

a part of the solution that builds a sustainable, more just, clothing system that fully considers the entire lifecycle of a garment or a fiber good.

Bare Cloth gives me life. I love it. I love it because I make magic fabric.  One minute I am looking at hundreds of perfectly parallel threads and the next minute, after a few pedals on the Hattersley loom there is fabric. Just like magic. It doesn't matter how many times I've warped the loom, yards I've woven, or mechanical problems solved, designing and making fabric still inspires and surprises me.

I live in Bare Cloth goods every day. Every morning and night I sit in stillness in my meditation shawl, I wear my Hattersley scarf almost year-round, every chair and bed has a Bare Cloth pillow, and use my grocer's tote and backpack made from my fabric on a daily basis. I use and wear the same core things every day, thus whatever I use in my day to day life needs to be durable and ready for some tough wear. Bare Cloth goods are made with people like me in mind. They are made for users that love their belongings, that use them, and that plan to use them for years and years to come. If you are like me... this is the place for you!
